ABOUT

The Mgr.-W.-J.-Conway public library in Edmundston is part of the New Brunswick Public Libraries network and is the resource center of the Haut-Saint-Jean library region. Our employees provide important support to the 9 other libraries in the region. We are also an important place of community resources and dissemination.

Inaugurated on January 22, 1972 in downtown Edmundston, the library was redeveloped in the church of the former Notre-Dame du Sacré-Cœur parish and reopened to the public on March 7, 2000. Rather modern in style for a church , this triangular-shaped building was designed and built by the architect, artist and writer Roméo Savoie (1928 – 2023) between 1966 and 1967. The bell tower proudly retains its original place, testifying to its primary mission. The building is an example of modern New Brunswick architecture and a Canadian heritage place.
